ICSKL2  Certificate in Introduction to Counselling Skills

A total of 30 hours learning comprising of 10 sessions of 3 hours and personal learning outside of the class room

The Certificate in Introduction to Counselling Skills is a 10 week course covering the basic listening skills and safeguarding applications. For those who want to learn initial counselling skills to help others – either in a voluntary or an employed situation or who want to find out more about this field – this course won’t teach you to be a counsellor, but may help you decide whether or not you want to train as one.

 

CSKL2  Certificate in Counselling Skills

A total of 90 hours learning comprising of 15 sessions of 6 hours and personal learning outside of the class room

The Certificate in Counselling Skills is a 15 week course for those that want to become competent in the use of counselling skills to help others – either in a voluntary or an employed situation or who want to take the first step in training to be a counsellor – this course won’t teach you to be a counsellor but will prepare them for the next level of practitioner training and give you an overview of the different types of counselling to help you to identify what modality you would like to initially train in.

 

 

CSTL3  Certificate in Counselling Studies

A total of 90 hours learning comprising of 15 sessions of 6 hours and personal learning outside of the class room

 

The Certificate in Counselling Studies is a 15 week course for those that want to investigate the different modalities we use in counselling. This course teaches you the legal, ethical and professional requirements of working as a counsellor.  You will design your own agency in a group of peers and you will be guided by your tutor to produce clinical assessments documents and a leaflet. You will then provide counselling sessions over three weeks, trying out the Person-centred, Psychodynamic and Transactional Analytic models of practice. You will gain a very practical experience of what it is to work as a counsellor in an agency, this course prepares you for the rigours of working as a volunteer counsellor on Diploma courses.

 

TCL4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

A total of 420 hours of learning over 2 years.

At this end of this course you will be a qualified counsellor and ready to begin paid employment. With the support of your supervisor you can set up in private practice and NWLCT will support your career development as part of our final weeks. During term 2 you will research the areas of therapeutic work that interests you and will start applying to agencies for work as a volunteer counsellor, beginning your practice with members of the public. This is a very practical training, which enables you to embed your theory, ethical knowledge and understanding in being with others.
